Connect your domain to C Building: add DNS records at Net-Chinese

The short version

If your domain's nameservers are ens1/ens2 or cns1/cns2.net-chinese.com.tw, go to "域名管理" (Domain Management) → "域名總覽" (My Domain Overview) → your domain → "DNS" at Net-Chinese, make sure hosted DNS is chosen, and add the card's records in "DNS 紀錄設定" (DNS record settings). Leave the host empty for "@" and remove any redirect on the same host first. Changes take 12 to 24 hours.

When you connect a domain, C Building first looks at where the domain's DNS is, that is, its nameservers. You add the records wherever the DNS is, which isn't necessarily where you bought the domain. For example, a domain bought at Net-Chinese with its DNS on Cloudflare gets its records at Cloudflare.

The records to add (type, name, value) are the ones listed on the card when you connect the domain, so this guide gives no fixed values. Use the record types exactly as the card shows them; if a name already has an old record, edit or delete it first, then add what the card lists.

When this guide applies

Only when the domain's nameservers are ens1.net-chinese.com.tw and ens2.net-chinese.com.tw (domains other than .tw) or cns1.net-chinese.com.tw and cns2.net-chinese.com.tw (.tw domains), which means Net-Chinese (網路中文) hosts the DNS. If they belong to another company, add the records there.

Adding the records at Net-Chinese

Net-Chinese's account pages are in Chinese. The labels below are written as they appear on screen, with their meaning in brackets.

  1. Sign in to your Net-Chinese account at net-chinese.com.tw.
  2. Under "域名管理" (Domain Management), select "域名總覽" (My Domain Overview), then your domain.
  3. Select "DNS" and, under "DNS 主機設定" (DNS server settings), make sure "DNS 代管:使用網路中文 DNS 主機" (Hosted DNS: use Net-Chinese's DNS servers) is chosen.
  4. Open "DNS 紀錄設定" (DNS record settings).
  5. For each record on the card, choose its type, enter its host name and value, and save.

Things to know

  • For a record named "@" (the domain itself), leave "主機名稱/別名" (Host name/alias) empty. Never type the domain itself; it is added for you.
  • A host name can't have both a record and a redirect ("轉址"): if a host name on the card (for example @ or www) has a redirect, remove the redirect first.

How long it takes

Net-Chinese says new or changed records take 12 to 24 hours to update.

Once the records are in, C Building checks them automatically. There's no need to come back and let us know.
