When you connect a domain, C Building first looks at where the domain's DNS is, that is, its nameservers. You add the records wherever the DNS is, which isn't necessarily where you bought the domain. For example, a domain bought at Z.com Thailand with its DNS on Cloudflare gets its records at Cloudflare.
The records to add (type, name, value) are the ones listed on the card when you connect the domain, so this guide gives no fixed values. Use the record types exactly as the card shows them; if a name already has an old record, edit or delete it first, then add what the card lists.
When this guide applies
Only when the domain's nameservers are ns-a1.cloud.z.com, ns-a3.cloud.z.com and ns-a4.cloud.z.com (Z.com's DNS). If they belong to another company, add the records there.
Z.com in other countries uses the same nameservers; this guide follows the screens of Z.com Thailand (cloud.z.com/th).
Adding the records at Z.com Thailand
- Sign in at cloud.z.com/th and select "DNS" in the main menu.
- If your domain is not listed, select "+ Domain", enter the domain and select "Save".
- Select the pencil icon next to your domain.
- For each record on the card, select "+", choose its type, enter Name and Value, keep the default TTL (3600), and select "Save".
Good to know
- These records work only while the domain uses Z.com's nameservers (ns-a1, ns-a3 and ns-a4.cloud.z.com).
- Check every entry carefully before saving.
How long it takes
Z.com's guide doesn't say how long records take to work.
These steps follow Z.com Thailand's official help: adding DNS records, Z.com's nameservers (Z.com Thailand's help articles are hosted on Netdesign Host's helpdesk).
Once the records are in, C Building checks them automatically. There's no need to come back and let us know.
Want C Building to manage your DNS? Change the nameservers
Adding the records above is enough to connect your website; you don't need to change the nameservers. Only if you choose to let C Building manage this domain's DNS, change its nameservers to ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net (as the card lists them).
Before you do, your e-mail records at Z.com Thailand (such as MX and TXT) have to move too, or your e-mail may stop arriving. Read Before you change nameservers: e-mail and DNSSEC first.
- Sign in at cloud.z.com/th. If two-step verification is off, turn it on first under "Account Settings" → "Two-step Verification" → "ON", using Google Authenticator.
- Open the "Domain" menu, select your domain and choose "Name Server Setting".
- Select "Custom" (not "Z.com (Default)"), then the pencil "Edit" icon.
- Enter ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net, select "Save", and type the 6-digit code from Google Authenticator.
Z.com asks for the two-step code every time you change nameservers; the code changes every 30 seconds, so enter the one showing at that moment.
It takes up to 24 hours.
These steps follow Z.com Thailand's official help: changing nameservers.
