Connect your domain to C Building: add DNS records at TenTen

The short version

If your domain's nameservers are *.tenten.vn, sign in at domain.tenten.vn (or id.tenten.vn), choose "Cài đặt DNS" (DNS settings), add the card's records one by one with "Thêm" (Add) and select "Lưu lại" (Save). Don't use "Cấu hình theo IP": it deletes all existing records. Takes 3 to 24 hours.

When you connect a domain, C Building first looks at where the domain's DNS is, that is, its nameservers. You add the records wherever the DNS is, which isn't necessarily where you bought the domain. For example, a domain bought at TenTen with its DNS on Cloudflare gets its records at Cloudflare (see add DNS records at Cloudflare).

The records to add (type, name, value) are the ones listed on the card when you connect the domain, so this guide gives no fixed values. Use the record types exactly as the card shows them; if a name already has an old record, edit or delete it first, then add what the card lists.

When this guide applies

Only when the domain's nameservers are TenTen's *.tenten.vn, for example ns1.tenten.vn, ns2.tenten.vn and ns3.tenten.vn, or names like ns-b1.tenten.vn.

If the nameservers belong to another company, records added at TenTen have no effect: add them where those nameservers are managed.

Adding the records at TenTen

  1. Sign in at domain.tenten.vn, or sign in at id.tenten.vn and open your domain list, then choose "Cài đặt DNS" (DNS settings).
  2. On the DNS page, don't use "Cấu hình theo IP" (Configure by IP); add the records one by one instead.
  3. For each record on the card, select "Thêm" (Add), choose its type as the card shows, and enter its name and value.
  4. Select "Lưu lại" (Save).

Good to know

  • "Cấu hình theo IP" deletes all existing records, including any e-mail records you had set up, so don't use it.
  • Forgot your domain.tenten.vn password? Select "Quên mật khẩu" (Forgot password) on the sign-in page.

How long it takes

TenTen says records take effect in 3 hours at the fastest and 24 hours at most.

Once the records are in, C Building checks them automatically. There's no need to come back and let us know.

Want C Building to manage your DNS? Change the nameservers

You don't have to do this: adding the records above is enough to connect the domain. Only if you want C Building to manage the domain's whole DNS do you change the nameservers at TenTen to ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net (as listed on the card).

Before you do: once the nameservers change, every record kept at TenTen stops working, including the MX and TXT records your e-mail needs. Move the e-mail records to C Building as well, or mail may stop arriving. See Before you change nameservers: email records, DNSSEC and registrar extras first.

  1. Sign in at id.tenten.vn.
  2. On the left, choose "Quản lý dịch vụ" (Service management) → "Tên miền" (Domains).
  3. In "Thao tác" (Actions) next to your domain, choose "Cài đặt NS" (NS settings).
  4. Choose the option for nameservers outside TenTen, enter each nameserver on the C Building card, and save.

The form has separate parts for international domains (.com, .net and so on) and .vn domains, plus options for domains on TenTen's Failover, SeoLover and SecureWeb hosting; use the one that fits your domain.

TenTen says the update takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.
