Connect your domain to C Building: add DNS records at Jagoan Hosting

The short version

If your domain's nameservers are ns1 and ns2.jagoanhosting.com, sign in to the Jagoan Hosting member area, go to "Domains" → the three dots next to your domain → "DNS Management", and add the card's records. For the domain itself, type your domain name without www in "Name", not "@".

When you connect a domain, C Building first looks at where the domain's DNS is, that is, its nameservers. You add the records wherever the DNS is, which isn't necessarily where you bought the domain. For example, a domain bought at Jagoan Hosting with its DNS on Cloudflare gets its records at Cloudflare.

The records to add (type, name, value) are the ones listed on the card when you connect the domain, so this guide gives no fixed values. Use the record types exactly as the card shows them; if a name already has an old record, edit or delete it first, then add what the card lists.

When this guide applies

Only when the domain's nameservers are ns1.jagoanhosting.com and ns2.jagoanhosting.com (a domain without a hosting plan). If they belong to another company, add the records there. If the domain uses the nameservers of a Jagoan hosting plan (best, great or one.jagoanhosting.com), add the records in cPanel instead; this guide doesn't apply.

Adding the records at Jagoan Hosting

  1. Sign in to the Jagoan Hosting member area and open "Domains".
  2. Select the three dots next to your domain and choose "DNS Management".
  3. For each record on the card, choose its "Type", enter its "Name" and "TTL", and put its value in "IP Address" (A records) or "Content" (CNAME records).
  4. Save the record, and repeat for each one.

Things to know

  • For the domain itself (the card's record named "@"), type your domain name without www in "Name", not "@".
  • For "TTL", Jagoan's guide suggests 14400, or you can keep the default shown.

How long it takes

Jagoan Hosting's guide doesn't say how long changes take.

Once the records are in, C Building checks them automatically. There's no need to come back and let us know.

Want C Building to manage your DNS? Change the nameservers

Only do this if you decide to let C Building manage your DNS; if you add the records at Jagoan Hosting as above, you don't need to change the nameservers. Once you change them, all of the domain's DNS records are managed at C Building, and the nameservers are ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net (use the ones on the card).

Before you change them: if the domain has email, its mail records (such as MX and TXT) must be moved to C Building too, or mail may stop arriving. See Before you change nameservers: email and DNSSEC.

  1. Sign in to the Jagoan Hosting member area and select "Domains".
  2. Select the three dots on your domain and choose "Mengelola Nameservers" (Manage Nameservers).
  3. Enter the nameservers on the card (ns1.cbuilding.net to ns4.cbuilding.net). Don't pick "Gunakan default nameservers" (Use default nameservers).
  4. Select "Ganti Nameservers" (Change Nameservers).

For a .id domain you can't change the nameservers yourself: open a ticket or chat in the member area and ask Jagoan support to set them.

The menu may be in English or Indonesian, depending on your language setting.

Once they're changed, C Building checks automatically as well.
