How to change nameservers at Netway and Z.com Thailand to C Building

The short version

Netway: in the client area go to Dashboard → Domain → gear icon → Manage Domain → Manage Nameservers, enter ns1–ns4.cbuilding.net and save (about 2–24 hours). Z.com Thailand: turn on two-step verification first, then Domain → Name Server Setting → Custom → Edit, enter the nameservers, click Save and type the 6-digit code (up to 24 hours). A .th domain with its own THNIC account can be changed at thnic.co.th.

If you bought your domain at Netway or Z.com Thailand and want C Building to manage all of its DNS, you change the domain's nameservers there to C Building's. This guide brings together both registrars' official steps, plus what to know about .th domains (such as .co.th), which THNIC runs.

If you only want the domain to open your C Building website and keep your current DNS, you don't need to change nameservers: adding the records from the card is enough. See Add DNS records at Netway or Add DNS records at Z.com Thailand. If nameservers are new to you, start with What are nameservers?.

Step 1: start hosting in C Building first

Order matters: finish the setup in C Building first, then change the nameservers at Netway or Z.com. If you change the nameservers first, your old records stop working at once, and your website and email can go down.

  1. On the website's "Domains & publishing" page, or the "Domain" tab in the editor settings panel, find "Let C Building manage your DNS" and click "Let C Building manage DNS".
  2. Choose how to read your current records: "Detect automatically", "Import from Cloudflare" or "Paste a zone file".
  3. Under "Confirm the records to bring over", tick each record you want, use "Add a record" for any that are missing, then click "Start hosting".
  4. The screen shows "Last step: change the nameservers at your registrar" with four nameservers and a "Copy all" button.

C Building's four nameservers are ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net. After you start hosting, change the nameservers within 3 days. If you don't, this setup and the records you brought over are deleted, and you have to click "Start again". The full flow is in Let C Building manage your DNS.

Step 2 (Netway): change the nameservers in the client area

  1. Sign in to the Netway client area.
  2. Go to "Dashboard" → "Domain", click the gear icon next to the domain and choose "Manage Domain".
  3. On the "Domain Details" tab, scroll down and click "Manage Nameservers".
  4. Remove the old nameservers, enter ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net, and save.
  • Netway says the standard is at least 2 nameservers, so if one fails the other can still answer. If there are only 2 boxes, ns1 and ns2 work; if there's room, all 4 is more reliable.
  • After you save, Netway emails you to confirm the change, with a subject starting "Client nameserver for domain". You can reply to it, or tell their staff right away if something goes wrong.
  • Netway says it takes about 2–24 hours, because each nameserver updates at its own pace. Don't edit the nameservers again while you wait.
  • Contact Netway: phone 02-055-1095, [email protected] or LINE @netway.

Netway's guide was last updated in 2021, so the menu names on screen may be slightly different.

Step 2 (Z.com Thailand): change them in Name Server Setting

Z.com asks for a two-step verification code every time you edit nameservers. If it isn't on yet, turn it on first:

  1. Sign in at cloud.z.com/th.
  2. Install the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
  3. Go to "Account Settings", set "Two-step Verification" to "ON", scan the QR code that appears with the "+" button in the app, enter the 6-digit code in "Authentication Code" and click "Authentication".

Then change the nameservers:

  1. Open the "Domain" menu and select your domain.
  2. On the domain page, select "Name Server Setting".
  3. Choose "Custom" (choosing "Z.com (Default)" puts Z.com's own nameservers back).
  4. Click the pencil "Edit" icon on the right and enter ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net.
  5. Click "Save" and enter the 6-digit code from Google Authenticator to confirm.
  • The code in the app changes every 30 seconds, so enter the one showing at that moment.
  • Z.com says the change can take up to 24 hours.
  • Z.com's guide doesn't say how many nameservers you can enter. If there are fewer than 4 boxes, ns1 and ns2 are fine.

What to know about .th domains (such as .co.th and .in.th)

.th and .ไทย domains are run by THNIC. THNIC's policy says a domain works once it has at least 2 nameservers that are configured and working, and that a nameserver change is an immediate change that needs no documents. That's one more reason to finish step 1 first: your domain's records are ready in C Building before you switch.

If you registered the .th domain directly with THNIC and have an account at thnic.co.th, you can change the nameservers yourself, following THNIC's manual:

  1. Go to thnic.co.th, choose "เข้าสู่ระบบ" (Sign in) and enter your email address and password.
  2. Choose "โดเมนของคุณ" (Your domains) in the left menu, then select the domain.
  3. Choose "ตั้งค่า DNS" (DNS settings) under the .th (or .ไทย) domain name.
  4. Enter ns1.cbuilding.net to ns4.cbuilding.net (THNIC takes 2 to 8 names, with no duplicates). If there aren't enough boxes, use "เพิ่มเนมเซิร์ฟเวอร์" (Add nameserver).
  5. Tick "ใช่, ฉันต้องการแก้ไขข้อมูลโดเมน" (Yes, I want to edit the domain) and choose "แก้ไข" (Edit). You'll see "แก้ไขข้อมูล DNS สำเร็จ" (DNS updated).

THNIC says its system updates within 30–60 minutes after the request goes through. If the form asks for IP addresses, use the IP table in Let C Building manage your DNS.

If you bought the .th domain through Netway or Z.com, try their control panel first with the steps above. Neither registrar's guide has separate steps for .th domains. If it won't let you change them, or you can't find the menu, ask their support where this domain's nameservers are changed.

Before you switch: email and DNSSEC

  • Once the nameservers change, your records at Netway or Z.com stop applying. If you use email on this domain, bring the email MX and TXT records over when you start hosting, or you may stop receiving mail.
  • If DNSSEC is on, turn it off before you change the nameservers. C Building checks this before it starts hosting and asks you to turn it off first. In THNIC's system, a domain with DNSSEC on has a green padlock before its name, and its DS records are under the "ตั้งค่า DS" (DS settings) button.
  • Details are in Before you change nameservers: email and DNSSEC.

How long does it take, and how do I check?

  • When you're done at the registrar, go back to C Building and click "Check now".
  • When it says "The nameservers have changed. Your DNS is now managed by C Building.", you're done. Use "Manage DNS records" to edit records from then on; your website connects to the domain automatically.
  • If it says "The nameservers have not changed yet.", it also lists the nameservers the registry has on file, so you can spot a typo.
  • Filling in only some of the nameservers still works, but all four is more reliable.

If the nameservers are later changed away from C Building, record editing is paused. If they are not changed back within 14 days, hosting ends automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to change nameservers just so my domain opens my C Building website?

No. Adding the records from C Building's card wherever your DNS is now is enough. See Add DNS records at Netway or Add DNS records at Z.com Thailand. Change nameservers only when you want C Building to manage all of your DNS.

I bought the domain at Netway but my DNS is somewhere else. Where do I change the nameservers?

Where you bought and renew the domain (here, Netway), not where your DNS is now. Bring your current records over when you start hosting in C Building, with "Detect automatically", "Import from Cloudflare" or "Paste a zone file".

The form only has 2 nameserver boxes. Is that OK?

Yes. Enter ns1.cbuilding.net and ns2.cbuilding.net. C Building will note that only some are set, but it works. If you can add more boxes, all 4 is more reliable.

I changed them, but C Building still says "The nameservers have not changed yet." What now?

First compare the names on screen with ns1–ns4.cbuilding.net to rule out a typo. If they're right, wait for the time in the table above and click "Check now" again. Netway advises not to edit the nameservers again while you wait.

Why does Z.com ask for a 6-digit code when I save?

Z.com Thailand requires two-step verification every time you edit nameservers. Turn on "Two-step Verification" in "Account Settings" first, and enter the Google Authenticator code showing at that moment, since it changes every 30 seconds.

Do I still renew the domain at Netway or Z.com?

Yes. Changing nameservers only moves the DNS to C Building. The domain stays registered where it is, and you renew it there as before.

More than 3 days have passed and I haven't changed the nameservers. What do I do?

The earlier setup has been deleted. Click "Start again" in C Building first, then change the nameservers at Netway or Z.com. If you change the nameservers first, your website and email will stop working.
