How to change nameservers at Exabytes and Shinjiru (Malaysia) to C Building

The short version

Exabytes: log in, go to Domains → My Domains, select the three dots next to the domain → Manage Nameservers, choose "Use custom nameservers (enter below)", enter ns1.cbuilding.net to ns4.cbuilding.net and select Change Nameservers. Shinjiru: Client Area → Domains → your domain → Nameservers, tick "Use Custom Nameserver", enter them and select Update Nameserver. For .my domains, Exabytes may ask you to email [email protected], and Shinjiru may need a support ticket.

Many Malaysian businesses buy their .com.my, .my or .com domain at Exabytes or Shinjiru. If yours is there and you want C Building to manage its DNS, you change the domain's nameservers in your Exabytes or Shinjiru account. This guide covers both, step by step.

The steps follow Exabytes' and Shinjiru's own help articles (listed under Sources at the end), checked on 28 October 2026. If you only want to connect your website and keep your DNS where it is, you don't need to change nameservers: add the records instead, with Add DNS records at Exabytes or Add DNS records at Shinjiru.

Step 1: start hosting in C Building first

Order matters: finish the setup in C Building first, then change the nameservers at Exabytes or Shinjiru. If you change the nameservers first, your old records stop working at once, and your website and email can go down.

  1. On the website's "Domains & publishing" page, or the "Domain" tab in the editor settings panel, find "Let C Building manage your DNS" and click "Let C Building manage DNS".
  2. Choose how to read your current records: "Detect automatically", "Import from Cloudflare" or "Paste a zone file".
  3. Under "Confirm the records to bring over", tick each record you want, use "Add a record" for any that are missing, then click "Start hosting".
  4. The screen shows "Last step: change the nameservers at your registrar" with four nameservers and a "Copy all" button.

C Building's four nameservers are ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net. After you start hosting, change the nameservers within 3 days. If you don't, this setup and the records you brought over are deleted, and you have to click "Start again". The full flow is in Let C Building manage your DNS.

Change the nameservers at Exabytes

For domains registered with Exabytes Malaysia. You log in at billing.exabytes.my.

  1. Log in to your Exabytes billing account.
  2. Go to "Domains" → "My Domains".
  3. Find the domain, select the three dots next to its status, and choose "Manage Nameservers".
  4. Choose the second option, "Use custom nameservers (enter below)". Remove the old nameservers and enter ns1.cbuilding.net, ns2.cbuilding.net, ns3.cbuilding.net and ns4.cbuilding.net.
  5. Select "Change Nameservers" to save.
  • .my and .com.my domains: Exabytes' .MY article uses these same steps and says that by changing them you accept the MYNIC Policy & Procedure. Another Exabytes article says MYNIC domains (.my, .com.my, .org.my) are changed by email instead. If "Manage Nameservers" isn't there for your domain or won't save, email [email protected] from your account's primary email address with the domain name and the four nameservers.
  • "Name server not registered" error: Exabytes asks you to contact [email protected].
  • Domain on an Exabytes hosting plan's nameservers: its records (including email on that plan) were set in cPanel. Bring the ones you need over to C Building in Step 1 before you switch.
  • How long: Exabytes says nameserver changes can take 24 to 72 hours to take full effect.

Change the nameservers at Shinjiru

For domains registered with Shinjiru. You log in to the Client Area at billing.shinjiru.com.my.

  1. Log in to the Shinjiru Client Area.
  2. Select "Domains", then the domain you want to change.
  3. Select "Nameservers".
  4. Tick "Use Custom Nameserver" (the default is Shinjiru's own HawkDNS), remove the old nameservers, enter ns1.cbuilding.net to ns4.cbuilding.net, and select "Change Nameserver".
  5. Select "Update Nameserver".
  • Some country-code domains can't be changed here: Shinjiru's guide says this option isn't available for some country-code domains (ccTLDs). If you don't see "Nameservers" for your domain or it won't save, open a ticket at 247livesupport.biz and ask Shinjiru to change it, giving the four nameservers.
  • Domain on Shinjiru's DNS (ns1.hawkdns.net, ipnames.net or ipnama.net): once you switch, the records at Shinjiru stop applying, so bring them over in Step 1.
  • How long: Shinjiru's guide doesn't say how long the change takes.
  • The menu names in your account may be slightly different; look for "Nameservers" in the domain's settings.

Before you switch

  • Email: if you use email on the domain (for example an Exabytes or Shinjiru email plan, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365), bring its MX and TXT records over in Step 1, or mail may stop arriving.
  • DNSSEC: if DNSSEC is on, turn it off before you change the nameservers. C Building checks this before it starts hosting and asks you to turn it off at your registrar first. See Before you change nameservers: email and DNSSEC.

How long does it take, and how do I check?

Exabytes says 24 to 72 hours; Shinjiru doesn't give a time. C Building says it usually takes minutes to hours, and can take up to 48 hours. Once it takes effect, your website connects automatically.

  • When you're done at the registrar, go back to C Building and click "Check now".
  • When it says "The nameservers have changed. Your DNS is now managed by C Building.", you're done. Use "Manage DNS records" to edit records from then on.
  • If it says "The nameservers have not changed yet.", it also lists the nameservers the registry has on file, so you can spot a typo.
  • Filling in only some of the nameservers still works, but all four is more reliable.

If the nameservers are later changed away from C Building, record editing is paused. If they are not changed back within 14 days, hosting ends automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to change nameservers to connect my domain to C Building?

No. Changing nameservers hands all of the domain's DNS to C Building. If you'd rather keep your DNS at Exabytes or Shinjiru, just add the records C Building lists on its card: see Add DNS records at Exabytes and Add DNS records at Shinjiru.

My domain ends in .my or .com.my. Is anything different?

You still change it at the registrar you pay, Exabytes or Shinjiru. In late 2024 MYNIC, the .my registry, stopped selling domains directly, so .my domains are now bought and managed through MYNIC-accredited registrars. Exabytes says changing the nameservers means you accept the MYNIC Policy & Procedure, and may ask you to email [email protected]; at Shinjiru, some country-code domains need a support ticket.

Will my email keep working?

Yes, as long as its MX and TXT records were brought over in Step 1. After the switch, the records at Exabytes or Shinjiru no longer apply, so any you leave behind stop working. See Before you change nameservers: email and DNSSEC.

Where do I renew my domain afterwards?

Still at Exabytes or Shinjiru. Changing nameservers doesn't move the domain, so renewal invoices keep coming from your registrar; renew as usual. If the domain expires, your website and email stop working.

The form only has two nameserver boxes. Is that OK?

Yes. Enter ns1.cbuilding.net and ns2.cbuilding.net. Only some of the nameservers still works; where you can enter four, all four is more reliable.

I clicked "Check now" and it says the nameservers haven't changed. What now?

The screen lists the nameservers the registry has on file. If they're still the old ones, make sure you saved the change at your registrar ("Change Nameservers" at Exabytes, "Update Nameserver" at Shinjiru), check the spelling, then wait and check again; Exabytes says it can take 24 to 72 hours. Remember to finish within 3 days of starting hosting.
